Is static tilt holding you back

Climbing · NEGATIVE TILT

Descending · POSITIVE TILT

Ride ours once — and static feels unnatural.

CLIMBING · NEGATIVE TILT

Drive power uphill without fighting the bike.

NATVRAL® e‑Tilt®+ lets riders comfortably move hips and torso forward with responsive, high-resolution negative seat tilt. It makes it easier to get over the bottom bracket and drive power uphill—with less wasted torque and fatigue on steep, technical climbs.

The Result

Improved rear-wheel traction, fewer spin-outs, and less unintended front-wheel lift.

DESCENDING · POSITIVE TILT

Lock in, grip, and carve descents with confidence.

NATVRAL® e‑Tilt® allows riders to shift rearward and engage the inner knees and thighs against the saddle curvature. Combined with a positive seat angle, this “grappling” stance keeps body weight over the bike’s center of gravity on descents—improving stability, control, traction, and flow.

The Result

This is the same reason gravity riders so often run their saddle noses angled upward.

Ergonomics

From our founders’ instinct to research data—early findings support the theory.

Pelvic Motion

When you walk, your pelvis subtly tilts with each step while the spine counter‑moves in the opposite direction, a dynamic pattern that protects intervertebral discs and facet joints over millions of cycles. Traditional saddles largely lock this motion, forcing the pelvis and lumbar spine into a fixed flexed posture that concentrates load on the back of the discs and is strongly associated with overuse low‑back pain in cyclists. By contrast, e‑Tilt lets the saddle surface better track the grade and pedaling motion, preserving a more physiological pelvic tilt instead of freezing it, which helps keep the spine moving, mobilizes the discs, and reduces the static compression that drives lower‑back pain on long endurance rides.

Physical ergonomics research is clear: prolonged, awkward postures and concentrated saddle pressure are key drivers of back pain, nerve compression, and other riding‑related musculoskeletal problems. We apply this approach at NATVRAL® to boost performance while actively reducing the mechanical stresses that can lead to both acute and chronic pain, especially when combined with a well‑fitting saddle that properly supports the sit bones and relieves soft‑tissue pressure. By addressing posture, pressure, and load in real riding positions—not just on a static fit bike—our dynamic seating solutions help riders stay comfortable longer and lower the risk of low‑back strain, and other saddle‑related injuries.

The key is scientifically validated weight distribution that shifts pressure off vulnerable soft tissue and onto the sit bones, the body’s natural load‑bearing structures. This approach has been shown to improve genital blood flow, eliminate numbness for many riders, and significantly reduce sit‑bone pain when it’s paired with the right saddle shape. A slightly lowered nose and a central relief channel or depression sit at the heart of this concept—but they only work when the saddle actually fits. Overly soft models let the sit bones sink in and compress muscles, tendons, and blood vessels, which can quietly make symptoms worse.

By giving the rider on‑the‑fly, active‑assist control of saddle angle—both into positive grades and negative fall‑lines—the e‑Tilt™ platform helps keep the pelvis, spine, and center of mass in a more optimal, biomechanically efficient zone instead of forcing riders to over‑rotate at the hips or hunch from the lower back. On steep climbs, e‑Tilt can rapidly tip the nose down, shifting effective support onto the sit bones so riders stay open‑chested, balanced, and powerful; on descents, it can bring the rear of the saddle into a subtly positive stance you can brace against while the chassis and suspension stay calm underneath. Because adjustments are electronic, fast, and micro‑tunable, riders experience a continuous sense of “terrain alignment”—bike, body, and trail gradient staying in sync with the fall line—improving front–rear traction balance and preserving back health in ways a fixed, static setup simply cannot match.

Even small saddle changes dramatically affect how modern kinematic platforms ride—interacting with seat‑tube angle, chainstay length, wheelbase, reach, ride height, and center of gravity to shape climbing efficiency, descending control, and overall bike feel. Once riders experience how precise tilt control can unlock the full intent of the frame design, it quickly becomes a new baseline habit they’re reluctant to ever give up.

By adjusting tilt and height relative to the actual trail slope, the world’s first e‑dynamic dropper turns a once‑static saddle angle into a terrain‑matched variable. It boosts comfort, traction, and flow while helping riders stay stronger and more centered as the suspension moves through its travel.

By visualizing pressure points and hot spots, seat‑pressure mapping reveals subtle fit issues and root causes of discomfort that typical trial‑and‑error adjustments miss. A structured session can quickly inform targeted changes to seat height, tilt, setback, handlebar reach, and overall cockpit kinematics, giving riders a repeatable baseline they can refine over time. When this data‑driven fit process is combined with NATVRAL®’s patented dynamic seating and a properly chosen saddle, riders unlock significantly better on‑bike ergonomics, comfort, and power—making seat‑pressure mapping an ideal starting point to introduce dynamic seating on their next build or upgrade.

Controllable saddle angles give riders extra leverage against pedal kickback on technical climbs and high‑speed anti‑squat, while an improved “seat‑position library” relative to the bike’s X/Y/Z axes reduces the risk of tire‑to‑rider contact. When riders can call up optimized climbing and descending positions instead of committing to a single parking lot setting, frame design and on‑trail stability can go well beyond what static posts allow. Steep saddles on descents are simply scary, and “gravity” saddle angles on the way up tend to hurt or lead to riders sliding off the back of their seat—dynamic tilt, combined with height, helps avoid these extremes.

System At A Glance

Watch our NATVRAL® e‑Tilt™ "How It Works" video for a quick introduction. In a nutshell, NATVRAL® e‑Tilt uses an internal precision linkage driven by a compact motor to tilt the saddle smoothly into climb (negative) or descend (positive) angles across virtually infinite positions, while an independent e‑Dropper controls ride height on the same post. All of this is managed directly from the cockpit via a left‑hand bar remote, designed to sit cleanly under the brake lever alongside the e‑bike's powertrain controls. The dropper is gravity‑actuated: you lower it by sitting on the saddle, just like a standard post, so your riding habit stays exactly the same.

How It Works

From the bar‑mounted NATVRAL® NXT wireless remote, simply tap the Up or Down tilt buttons on demand—or press the dedicated e‑Dropper paddle to adjust height. If you are unweighted, the saddle tilts almost instantly (in about 8 milliseconds); if you are seated, the tilt does not move, and you must briefly unweight and initiate a new position change on the remote to adjust saddle angle.

The system runs on NATVRAL® Motion OS and is powered by a Nordic ARM + BLE platform, delivering near‑zero‑latency wireless control of both electrified height and tilt. You can set and store your perfect profiles on the fly for instant reuse, then recall saved climbing, descending, or neutral presets with a single trigger press. Define your own neutral saddle angle to match frame geometry, body position, and terrain, and use one‑touch auto‑calibration to align axes and sensors to your bike for precise operation.

The result is breakthrough seat‑position technology for your bike: fast, quiet, and precise control of both saddle tilt and ride height, keeping rider input simple while the system handles the hard work.

Why Dynamic Seat Positioning Matters – The Foundations of NATVRAL

It started with Dave Watson—part freerider, part industrial designer, and founder—and his early theory about how seat tilt affects rider efficiency and fatigue. That idea now underpins an upcoming biomechanics thesis—“The Effects of Saddle Tilt on Gross Efficiency and Upper Body Muscle Activation in Seated Uphill Cycling,” by M.S. Kinesiology, Cal Poly Humboldt (2025)—whose preliminary results align with our core theory. Combined with years of real‑world rider feedback, this work drives Dave’s mission to build products that keep him, and a growing community of riders, riding longer, using dynamic seat positioning and improved on‑bike ergonomics, grounded in real science and purposeful design, to improve comfort, longevity, and control on every ride.
